"...Day in da Life of da Bo$$!.....A little fun; sometimes serious and sometimes hopefully humorous insight into some fun times in life. Most of this will probably be a look into my hobbies; running (most likely will turn into a Marathon BLOG), sports, hanging out with the boys, and random other fun times in life..its meant for some fun and laughs..enjoy!
Merry Christmas Folks! Hope everyone has had a great holiday weekend so far and I hope you find yourself surrounded by family, friends, and enjoying some relaxation! So what better to post than a pic of Santa getting a Christmas Day workout on a treadmill!
*photo compliments of our friends at Runners World!
Yesterday was the B.O.B.'s favorite sports day of the year; the Thunder Road Marathon here in my hometown of Charlotte. Each year I am like a kid at Christmas when I know I get to wake-up and either lace up the shoes to log some race miles or, like this year, bundle up and go stand in as a fan and spectator! I love watching all the folks out testing their limits and seeing all the camaraderie that the running community has!
This year I had a couple of my good friends attempting the ole Amica Half Marathon in their "new color" outfits! Congratulations to Aimee "PowerBand" Couture and Rebecca "4 Loko" Dillingham!
Also a huge congrats to my ole high school teammate Daniel Eggers on his BostonQ time and a 3 hour flat finish! Awesome run kid!
Yet, the biggest congrats of the day once again goes to J.K. (Jordan Kinley) of Charlotte. In the past year+ he has given Charlotte a treat. JK is unbelievably fast and makes it look so natural! He defended his title from last year, but bested last year's time with a 2:24:46....unreal!
Well a couple weeks back the lady friend (aka Ape) surprised me with a weekend at the beach with the whole gang...........26 of my best friends all staying in a multi-million dollar mansion on the beach! Here are a few pics that tell some of the story of what is now known as "the Debacle @ IOP"
We always head down to Charleston around my birthday time to see the family and hit up some favorite restaurants, so nothing seemed out of the ordinary! Ape and I spent most of Thursday in downtown Charleston bumming around having a few drinks and figuring out what the weekend would behold. Then it was off to Morgan Creek (one of my favs) for dinner with the family......again nothing out of the ordinary. Until we hit Palm Blvd and teh family started to talk about how cool it would be to own a big house right on the beach and got me talking about "my favorite house"; which unknown to me was rented for the weekend and full of Code Blues and 26 of my best friends! Saturday included an Oyster Roast at the house and every other night included the following; code blues, singing, code blues, dancing, code blues, da Donk's solo, code blues, Kings Cup, code blues, anything that we can think of..............
Then the big surprise Raudy Laudy had flown in from O-H-I-O for the big weekend! This pretty much meant T-R-O-U-B-L-E!
Here is the casa de Debacle that we stayed in....also known as the Mansion on Dunes Blvd
I have many more pictures to tell the full story of the weekend but many are not BLOG appropriate. Be on the lookout if you were in attendance for "the B.O.B. is 30 DVD"!
Many of you probably have no idea who GEB is? Well you have lost out on following the prime years of the man who is probably the greatest distance runner of all-time and probably always will be.
Geb came on the scene back in the mid 90's and proved to be "the man" on the track and in the 5,000 - 10,000m distance. The best memory I have is watching him in person while at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. My Dad took me down for a 2 week jaunt at the Bob & Todd Distance Running Camp in Atlanta (Bob Kennedy and Todd Williams). During this camp I got to eat, sleep, and enjoy nothing but running! We had morning breakfast with Olympians, mid-morning workouts, then lunch and learns with Olympians, then afternoon workouts, then took part in being fans of all the runners and witnessing the Olympic Trials and Olympics first-hand.
Geb was always a freak of nature when he laced up the shoes. A few runners have been total icons of the sport; Steve "Pre" Prefontaine to American's a legend, AND Haile "GEB" Gebrselassie the legend! GEB has so many medals, wins, and records it's just nuts.
GEB not only said I got this 5,000 - 10,000m deal locked down, he then took on the Half-Marathon and the Marathon. The Marathon icon who holds the world record with a blistering 2:03:59 STELLAR!
Check out the"Journey of GEB: the greatest of All-Time!"
GEB could rule any distance from the 1,500meter to the Marathon! Yesterday, after having fluid in his knee that was present during an MRI on Saturday, retired after having to pull up at mile 16 of the NYC Marathon. I was hoping he could pull off a nice final Marathon victory but it wasn't to be and at 37 GEB now turns the flats over to the young guns!
Great career GEB you will be greatly missed and never another will come along who graces us with the ability and dedication that you did in distance running for over 20 years! Best part is you always were gracious to fans and never ceased to have a huge smile!
Enjoy your time off and thanks for the memories.............the greatest of all-time!
Well since it was recently learned that I did get that coveted spot in the BostonM this coming April. This past week was the last hoorah week for me so I hit the town and we hosted our Annual Halloween Frazer Freak-nic!
The week started with BH and I hitting the ole Neighborhood Night up at the Gin Mill. Both of us were "ridin solo" this week so we figured it was a good time to get some code blues, Monkey Bash, and Shuffleboard accomplished. When we got there out friend "BulletH" quickly served us up some Code Blues and we began to kick off the bar-top games; Drunken Monkey, followed by a relentless round of Monkey Bash. MBash is simply a game where you have to tap-screen and time it all just right so that this crazy monkey guy throws office equipment out of a high-rise building and gets it to fly/bounce the furthest. It quickly came to our attention that some girl named "Katie" had the top score.......not for long my friends and what you see to the right is the result of relentless attempts to leave "WINNERS" at the end of the night.
BH was taking a rough beating at the ole Shuffleboard once again! Seems that I typically own Mr. Heth and the one known as Jorge Bulgaria Turtzo when they try to compete on the S-board! BH was struggling so bad he decided to do some Keg Lifts!
After this our friend BH did come back to beat me in a shortened game due to our running out of $1 bills. This is where the night concluded and we departed winners of about everything we attempted. Only to be revisited this week at the 3rd round of "Gin Mill Neighborhood Night"! When Ape finally touched back down in the Queen City it was time to begin preparations for the Annual Frazer Freak-nic!" Halloween party at the house on Saturday. After many attempts over the years to grow a full-on-beard.........it's just not possible. Yet, my costume called for a pretty dang suhweet beard and some crazy hair. It's was time for "Operation the Snuggler" so I went out in the world via the "world-wide-web" and found the garb I needed. The night started off as "the Snuggler" and then turned to "ZachG from the Hangover" as you can see. The night ended with a fire-pit session and many headache wake up's the net morning at "da Boss' Crib".
After a week of fun it is now time to kick the training into high gear and start logging miles, while laying off the Code Blues. Although hey everyone has to have their cheat night(s) every once in awhile. Heck especially if they are burning the calorie/carb count I will be.
TEAM CYCLEKids 2011: at 9:30am on the dot I got a callback from CYCLEKids, Inc and Rebekah informed me I made the cut. I am now an official CYCLEKids, Inc. Team Member for the 2011 Boston Marathon.
Of course this now changes my entire training approach, as recently it's been between 30-40 miles per week and now that will have to pretty much double within 3-4 weeks before crunch time with the 4 month pre-M approach!
The plan is to use November to build up the mileage. Lately my pacing has gone pretty well, nothing stellar, but able to keep a decent pace for the 3-6 mile range. I have always been a LSD runner of sorts, never one who set his goals to win anything at race time. I have always set out to enjoy the race, enjoy the scenery, enjoy the fanfare, and overall just enjoy being out on the roads logging miles. So November will be the "November Notable" (as in Notable Build-Up).
December, January, February; will be the "Three Amigos" which will consist of playing around the 3 Marathon Training Programs I have used in the past, yet this time instituting concepts from all 3 programs.....in hopes they all get along like "Three Amigos" and give me the build-up and maintain I want to accomplish. Then comes March and early April which will give me my key 4-6 week approach to the big day! This weekend I will finalize all the training plans and put them into the training software that feeds to "BIG Geezy" (aka my Garmin).
For now, it's time to build up the new BostonM: Run for the Kids BLOG and get the fundraising site online so I can begin my approach to the $2,500 needed by 1/10/11 and furthermore the $5,000 goal I have set for myself personally by 4/18/11.
Please take some time to visit the new BLOG: BostonM: Run for the Kids *here you will be able to follow all my training, fundraising, events, etc.
Also you can link to the B.O.B. Fundraising Page by heading over to a Razoo: *here you can see a bit more in-depth as to what CYCLEKids, Inc. does and also follow my progression towards my charity fundraising and donor goals.
To those that have followed the B.L.O.G. of the B.O.B.....no worries this will stay updated as well with other events "da BOSS" has going on!
Well folks it's been a crazy week. Ape was traveling in Europe all week, then she's off to Canada this coming week, then the West Coast the week after that. So I have been running around doing a a lot of stuff to keep everything even keeled around here as she is only home for a couple days over the weekend(s).
Yet it was a big week here in the Queen City (the home front) for me as I had the Round 1: CYCLE Kids, Inc. Interview on Friday from 3:30pm-4:00pm. I got to speak with the founder Julianne Idlet and Rebekah Mueller the event organizer and director. What a great group of folks they have at the home office in Boston, MA. They have some awesome stuff they are doing and they have a great future outlook for expanding.
Round 2: Follow-Up Interview is set up for Tuesday morning.....then soon I hope to get the go ahead from the CYCLE Kids, Inc. folks and then it's time to fund-raise like crazy! The goals I have set our high, but the mission is awesome!
Well this past weekend was pretty sweet; Friday I got to hit the Rose with Chad "da Donk" York, then Saturday FSU won, Florida lost, Bama went down and I got to hit a wedding and enjoy complimentary Code Blue's, only downer was Sunday (but was expected)...the Panthers lost due to an inept owner and manager.......the worst part is that Shadow lost his job due to a bunch of overpaid peewee league players, coaches, managers, and ownership. Hey Panthers how about spend some money and build a team for a change!
This past weekend a great family friend got hitched. The whole family was ready for some fun and help take part in the big day! Congratulations to Elaine and Ryan! Check out what happens when a wedding reception, great food, Code Blues, a Photo Booth, and rePrints happen....
*on the left "da Boss and Boss' Lady"...on the right "Pops, Bets, da Boss and Boss' Lady"
Now time to rest up and head to the Chapman (aka the Damn Champs) Wedding this coming weekend! Here I come C-Lover.........you will never be the same!
Well the past few days have been pretty chill! Nothing crazy going on, just hanging out and kicking back after the Pittsburgh trip from last weekend. Last night it was back to College Football so my new roomie Jorge Bulgaria (aka Turtzo) and I hit TacoMac with Big Rob for some cold ones and some football. The girls ended up joining us for a little early celebration for Jac's birthday coming up!
Kind of weird that Mr. Jorge Bulgaria ended up married after a night out on the town?
The ole Garmin seems to be giving me a bit of trouble as the GPS signal is in/out continuously during runs and getting my pace off a bit and not posting correct. Nonetheless below is what came from Wednesday and Thursday's runs. Hitting up 2-a-days and lifting on Wednesday
BWE 4 Mileage: 4 miles Pace: 7:37 avg Time: 30:30 the Route
This past weekend Ape and I took off to Pittsburgh to visit the town of Iron City Beerfor our friend Ryan & Jen's "the Taylor's" wedding! We were accompanied by our friendly chaperone; one Matt Logan. We decided to walk around town Saturday day night and see if anyone could pick out the "true Clemente"?
We also hit up a few pictures on the bridge by PNC Park....this is probably the only time Ape didn't feel so small!
The weekend consisted of the following events; Morning Flight from Charlotte-Pittsburgh "first class", then a walk over to Mullen's Sports Pub, a wedding extravaganza.......some sleep....then lunch at Primanti Brother's, a ride up the Duquesne Incline, back to Mullen's Sports Pub, a Pirates game at PNC Park, back to Mullen's Sports Pub, over to the infamous Double Days and a stop for some streetside pizza........... Then it was time to hop a flight back to the Queen City, as luckily Big Ben was out of town for the few days we were there, but nonetheless I didn't want Ape in town too long........as we all know how Big Ben acts when women are around.....that never ends well!
So cheers to the newlyweds...the Taylors!
Then it was time for a Welcome Back to the Queen City Sober Run
Well today is hump day and that means a triple play!
This morning Ryan "the Beast" and I went out for a VERY leisure ride to get the 2 wheel whips out on the roads of the Queen City. We hit up a good 15+/- miles with a quick stop at the reliable Owen's Bagels for a quick banana, muffin, and sweet tea.
This afternoon then called for a "negative split 3-miler" to test out the Operation Broken Toe Shakeout with some stellar paced miles! Result = success! Hit my stride with splits of; 7:14, 7:13, and 6:51.........all while trailing a few high school cross country teams.
Mileage: 3.0 Pace: 7:07 avg Overall: 21:20 the Route
Then for the tri-fecta it was time for a treadmill tempo workout and a lower body lifting session compliments of the Beast's workout "B.O.B. Becomes a BadA$$"!
Which brings me to my daily thought: "we never know how good we got it!"
As I was pacing in the back of a local high school pack I was thinking, man how much fun it was to run with my beset friends back in the day. Back in the day when CCS Cross Country was competitive and we continuously snagged Conference Titles I got to run with the likes of; Greg "the Hippster" Hipp, Eric "Eazy E" Jones, Bradd "JumpStart" Johnson, Brent "Ma$E" Francese, Adam "buddy" Mull, Dan "Eggers", J.Blackwood, Josh "BrewDaddy" Brewer, Scott "Scoootty" Anderson.....just to mention a few. Still touch base with most these boys in one way or another.....but man those were the days!
....the days of "the PACK"! Hey CCS get your cross country teams back in gear.....I went to the ole NC MileSplit Website to check out how we have been fairing and it looks a bit less than stellar. Back in the day it was ALWAYS a head-to-head battle in the trenches with PD.........now PD just owns it (mostly due to Hovis...one of the Queen City's Fastest) with stellar coaching! Of course back in the day we had the man coaching us Buddy Coach Down!
Well again sorry for the delays in posting........but I have been religiously working on capturing the happenings of "The Choice: Taking my Talents to Apple Valley Lake" in a overview video and it will soon be released on "da Boss Productions" Channel! What you see is only a preview of what is to come......... Yet, while you frantically await it's release I wanted to get everyone up to speed on the Happenings of the B.O.B.! This past weekend was the official kick-off of all levels of meaningful football; high school, college, and finally the NFL..........well maybe the Panthers should have played another 3-4 pre-season games! Not only does our offense look worse than ever, but our Defense (after a promising pre-season) pretty much said go ahead run/throw/ do whatever to us! Hopefully our match-up against Tampa Bay will have a better out come.
...........but after watching our Pansy Panthers play it only got better, I was approached by Holly @ Gin Mill who opened with, "Hey Bob, I have some bad news!" I mean honestly what bartender ever says that.........so I figured a friend walked out on a tab and I'd have to cover it or someone put drinks on my tab - no biggie right? Well the she let me know, "Someone just smashed into your Explorer and drove off!" Thoughts in the B.O.B's head........."What the heck! This northern uppity moron must not know how the B.O.B. gets his vendetta........."
Well Mr. Buffalo fan who drives a girly Red Jetta with expired Buffalo, NY tags.........you messed with the wrong guy. The CMPD and NYPD are looking for you..........if they can't track you down a friend of mine known as code name Jack "da Boss" Bauer will find you........he looks like this;
Operation Vendetta Red Jetta!
Starring: "the B.O.B. aka da Bo$$" and every acquaintance I have Mission: send you back north where you belong!
After the trip though I did end up snapping that little thing called the Pinky Toe! So this week was Operation Broken Toe Shakeout......trying to do minimal miles at a fairly decent pace to test it out. So the plan was to hit the gym each day do some easy 4-5 milers on the treadmill then hit the open roads (trails in this case) for a quicker paced test run series.
Overall, it feels ok, I do think it set wrong as it won't lay in the running dog covers like it used to. Nonetheless after 2 days of test runs, with fellow southern bada$$ RTeezy, of only 2 miles per/outing it seems back and ready for a hard workout soon!
Operation Broken Toe Shakeout Run #1: Mileage: 2 Miles Pace: 7:44 avg Overall: 15:29 the Route
Operation Toe Shakeout Run #2: Mileage: 2 Miles Pace: 7:35 avg Overall: 15:11 the Route
Well Monday started the week off great! Unfortunately I had a mishap towards the end of last week that resulted in a broken toe............but that wouldn't hold me back from taking part in a Golf Tournament that I had longed to get involved in for some time.
Ace & TJ our local radio show starts, started a charity years ago called the Grin Kids. The Grin Kids charity helps special needs families and kids.
Their mission "Each year, ACE & TJ's Grin Kids takes as many children as financially possible to Disney World with their parents and siblings. Because of their special needs and financial strain, this is an experience that many of these children and families would not be able to know without the help of ACE & TJ's Grin Kids." -taken from the Grin Kids website As a big supporter of everything Ace & TJ.....the chance to play in their Grin Kids Golf Tournament came up thanks to my friend LA (aka Lane Anderson) at Tommy Bahama and I jumped on it.
The day was full of big names from the Ace & TJ show; Ace, TJ, Guenn, Shadow.....and others......also a few big names from the NASCAR world in AJ Allmendinger and Reed Sorenson to mention a couple. The day kicked off around 11am with a shotgun start and Captains Choice format. Although we played a decent round none of won the true prize of the day this Lambo that was sitting out front.......in fact no one won the thing....but man it was suhweet!
If you haven't ever heard of Ace & TJ hit 95.1 from 6am-10am during the weekdays and especially listen for when they do live airings from their Annual Grin Kids trips or when they hold their fundraiser on air for support to the charity for the Annual Grin Kids trip! The stories from the show personnel, the families, and long time supporters will make you tear up, make you laugh, make you just feel great about your local Charlotte community and the people that we have here. It's always something special to hear about GREAT things going on around you and not always the bad.............Please help support the Grin Kids by going to their site and considering a donation!
This past weekend my cycling team, Team Wanzites, hit up their 4th annual 24 Hours of Booty ride in Charlotte, NC. This years team consisted of the following folks; Bob "the B.O.B." Frazer, Mike "Pok Chop" Jackson, Jeff "O.M.L." Lever, David "Frank Schleck" Currid, and Ryan "No Heart" Hagan! Our team hit the loop with purpose, taking off on the parade lap and hitting up an initial 20+ off the bat.
We all hit up a good bit of mileage on Friday night so that we could make sure to get a stellar base before Saturday hit. Plus, we saw potential weather coming mid-afternoon on Saturday.
As the El' Captan of TeamW I had to make sure we reached the 500+ goal by the end of the event. So we all hit it hard on Saturday and reached the following mileage totals;
Bob "the B.O.B" Frazer = 179 miles Mike "Pok Chop" Jackson = 100 miles David " Frank Schleck"Currid = 83 miles Ryan "No Heart" Hagan = 70 miles Jeff "O.M.L." Lever = 69 miles
A GRAND TOTAL of 501 miles ridden in a 24 hour period by your beloved Wanzites! A great goal considering a smaller team this year. We appreciate each of you who supported us and either donated to our team and the cause OR joined us out a "Bootyville" to support us during the event. We had the ever strong support or Lib our flag bearing supporter!
If you didn't have a chance to support or come see us this year check out our 2010 Fundraising Team Page and keep your eyes peeled for our 5th Annual event next year in July 2011.
Thanks folks and Congrats to TeamW on another great year!
Sorry folks, as the BLOG has been dormant lately. Since I last updated you on the happenings in the life of the B.O.B. a lot has happened here is a quick update;
June 2010
1. April was involved in a Cruzin Cooler accident. Yes yours truly was driving the Cruzin Cooler, while the lovely Ape was riding on the luxurious "Coolagon". After reaching max speed at 15 mph, she took a dive off and this was the result, 10 stitches out/2 stitches in and a good bandage job.
After this June remained a fairly quiet month....as we rested up and mended (Ape) for the "Hetherington HoeDown" at a barn in SC.
July 2010 The arrival of Raudy Laudy was a big event in the Queen City and then Sheezy and Blaze (aka Straussie) arrived and the town hasn't been the same since.
On July 3rd we hit the barn in SC for the "Hetherington HoeDown" with the whole crew, which then led to an after party at the house with our friend "Johnny Bootlegger" and then off to the Gin Mill compliments of Ka$h Money. This past weekend we decided to head out to VZW Ampitheatre to hear 2 songs from Train (hate we missed these guys as they are AWESOME!) and an ever boooring show from John "I SOOK" Mayer...........yet we did score KOL (Kings of Leon) tickets and got a good number pictures before heading back to the Frazer Fort for a party till the early morning. We also had our Annual 4th Pool Bash and Raudy and I had some pretty swank outfits for the bash!
I hope this gives you a decent update and look for more to come as "The Choice: Where the B.O.B. Will Vacation" will soon air here via the FlipVideo National Channel...........
